Driving in Lake Villa and what it does to your vehicle

Lake Villa roads mix a small downtown and Metra North Central Service station with lake roads and newer subdivisions. Summer brings boat and trailer traffic, and winters bring slick two lane roads between the lakes. Towing, short trips and cold starts all add wear to transmissions, batteries and brakes.

Good to know

• Route 83 north to Route 173 is the usual route, about 16.3 miles.
• Pre-season checks for tow vehicles: brakes, transmission fluid, cooling and trailer lights.
• If you commute east to I-94, you can drop off on the way.
